The lodge is located in the central eastern region of Madikwe Game Reserve in an area well known for its superior game viewing. Madikwe Safari Lodge consists of 3 separate private lodges offering 20 luxury suites in total:
Guests have a choice to stay together as a group of family and friends, or to have a more private bush experience as a couple.

Lelapa Lodge (Tswana for 'family') is the heart of Madikwe Safari Lodge. It is situated on a hill overlooking the reserve and comprises of twelve luxury suites, blending into the surrounding landscape.
The dedicated staff will go out of their way to make your stay special and memorable. There is complimentary wireless in the reception, as well as both an indoor and outdoor dining area.
You can relax in the bar lounge, or wander outside to take in the night sky and star gaze from the veranda.
Children of all ages are welcome at Lelapa Lodge.
Dithaba Lodge (Tswana for 'mountain') is located slightly higher up on the mountain and has incredible views over the open plans. It is a few minutes’ walk from the other lodges.
Dithaba Lodge can be reserved exclusively for a family or group to enjoy. The service and expertise of a private lodge manager, chef and field ranger will together create a fantastic experience for you and your family or safari group.
The lodge has an inviting reception area and both indoor and outdoor dining areas. Relax in the library lounge, indoor lounge with roaring fireplace, or take in some stargazing on the outdoor lounge area and boma.
Kopano Lodge (Tswana for 'small gathering') is the gem in the Madikwe Safari Lodge collection. The 4 exclusive suites are private and secluded, providing you with a truly personal experience. The open plan spaces create a seamless flow between interior and exterior.
You will be welcomed at the main lodge into an intimate and unique reception area. There is both an indoor and outdoor dining area for you enjoy, as the weather determines. Relax in the library lounge, indoor lounge with roaring fireplace, or outdoor lounge area and boma.

There are many activities available for children including:
Family safari drives, bush orientation, bug CSI, dung tracking, track pack with
plaster of Paris, baking in the kitchen, making pizzas in the boma, star gazing,
games night and much more.
We also don’t charge additional costs for any of the activities listed above; however there are a few basic terms and conditions that apply to this offer. Please enquire for more details on family and children’s activities.
Unfortunately no game drives are allowed for children under the age of two years and children between the ages of two and five are only allowed on the late morning family safari drive.

The high standard of Madikwe's game viewing provides regular sightings of amongst other animals, zebra, Impala, wildebeest, giraffe, warthog, white rhino, lion, wild dog, elephant, white rhino, brown hyena, and spotted hyaena.
Birdwatching is excellent with over 350 bird species recorded. The best bird-watching period is from October to April.
Pamper yourself and indulge in a relaxing and revitalising treatment with our qualified therapist in the luxury and privacy of your suite. All of the treatments are done in the privacy of your suite and can be arranged during your stay at the Lodge.
If you love being in nature and have an appreciation for the spirit of the African bush, we highly recommend a wedding at one of our private lodges.
Although the wedding party numbers are limited due to lodge size, this in fact can add to making this an even more unforgettable experience, shared only with close friends and family.

The suites are private and spacious equipped with their own private swimming pools with great views over the surrounding landscape. During winter, the wood burning fireplace in each suite makes for once of the most romantic turndowns, falling asleep as the soft light flickers throughout the room.

Access to Madikwe Safari Lodge is either by road or by air.
Federal Air operates a daily flight from O.R.T. International Airport to Madikwe airfield, departing at 12h00 and returning at 13h30. The airfield is 10 minutes' drive from the Lodge.
Gaborone, Botswana is 2 hours from Madikwe Safari Lodge. If you are either coming from or going on safari in Botswana, transfers can be arranged.
The driving time from Johannesburg is approximately 4 to 4.5 hours and there are two different routes to consider. Our reservations desk can send you detailed information on both flight and self-drive access.
